Ben at Chair Seven
Ben Ortiz · Sheffield, UK · Independent barber renting one chair · TikTok and online booking
By the last four weeks of his eight-week plan, Ben had welcomed 19 first-time clients who booked through his tagged TikTok link, up from 12 in the baseline period. Visits to the booking page rose from 120 to 156. He kept his schedule at two videos a week.
Ben bought 500 TikTok followers once and 1,000 views for six selected videos. He also made the profile more useful: a pinned introduction, a visible starting price, the neighbourhood and a direct booking link. The featured cuts showed the finish and the upkeep, with clients’ permission.
The seven additional first visits happened while all those changes were in place. They are completed appointments linked to the booking route, not a claim that purchased views brought seven local customers.
A good haircut still needed a clear next step
Ben rented one chair in a shared Sheffield studio and handled filming between appointments. His seven-month-old account had 860 followers just before the plan began. People could see finished cuts, but basic questions about location, price and availability often needed a message.
He wanted more first-time bookings within the same 40 appointment slots a week. A modest boost appealed to him, but his buying limit was fixed. He could sustain two uploads a week and wanted each one to help someone decide whether to book.

Show the cut and answer the booking questions
Tuesday’s video showed a before-and-after cut from the same angle. Friday’s answered one useful question: what to ask for, how much upkeep a style needed or whether a textured cut suited a particular routine. Clips were usually 20–35 seconds.
Ben led with the finished result, added the area and starting price, and pointed viewers to the booking link. He asked clients before filming and replied to local enquiries after his last appointment. A short pinned introduction showed the chair and explained how a first visit worked.
He chose six complete, clearly explained videos for 1,000-view orders in weeks 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 and 8. The other ten posts received no purchased views. There was no automatic subscription and no weekly requirement to buy when a video was not ready.
Two videos. A selective view boost.

The eight-week plan
-
Weeks 1 and 2
Place the follower order, publish the pinned introduction and add price and location details to the regular videos.
-
Weeks 3 and 4
Use client questions for the advice clips. Keep the booking route clear; make no view purchase in week 4.
-
Weeks 5 to 8
Place the final three view orders, keep two posts a week and reconcile completed first visits with tagged bookings.
“People need to see the cut, know the price and work out how to book. The boost was useful to me, but those details still had to be there.”
Ben OrtizBen at Chair SevenGive the right person enough detail to book
The most useful feedback was specific. In the interview, Ben describes new clients showing him a saved cut and asking how it would work with their hair. That told him what to film next.
Celebian let him choose a small boost for selected posts without adding a subscription to his week. It did not supply the haircut, explain the price or make the viewers local. His clearest opportunity was to turn the profile into a practical preview of an appointment.
A dramatic transformation clip with little explanation received its purchased views but still left people asking basic questions. Ben’s next version named the cut and showed the styling routine. He kept the package size the same.
How the results were measured
Headline changes compare 1–28 June with 3–30 August 2026. The programme lasts eight weeks, 6 July–30 August. Post-level measures use each video’s first seven days; data are locked on 6 September. The week before the programme allows baseline posts to complete that observation window.
Seven additional first visits means 19 − 12. Booking-page sessions rise by (156 − 120) ÷ 120 = 30%. The result is modest in absolute terms and not a causal estimate.

| Metric and definition | 1–28 June 2026 | 3–30 August 2026 | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| First-time clients who attended (clients) Unique first-time clients attending in each 28-day window whose original booking used the tagged TikTok link. Excludes repeat clients, cancellations and no-shows; counts each client once. |

What to keep in mind
- Appointment results use attendance date; traffic uses visit date. A person can book in one window and attend in another, so 19 ÷ 156 is not a valid booking conversion rate for this dataset.
- Six view orders total 6,000. Three occur in the final comparison window, totalling 3,000 purchased views. No purchased audience location or local reach is assumed.
- The net follower change is 610, alongside a 500-follower purchase. The 110-unit arithmetic difference cannot identify organic follows or account for overlapping gains and losses.
- The same 40 weekly appointment slots, prices and service menu; no discount campaign, ads or other engagement suppliers. Captions, pinned information and video explanations change during the programme.
