Does TikTok Tell You Who Viewed Your Profile?

Does TikTok Tell You Who Viewed Your Profile?

Published on 14th of March 2023

When people post content on TikTok, they usually stay a while to watch how many views the video is getting.

Posting on the app provides a chance for users to share their content with the world and hope it goes viral.

TikTok will give some insights into where your content is going and the impact that it has on viewers, but it doesn't include detailed information about how many people are watching.

Well, one problem with this approach is that you’ll find it hard to customize and optimize content for existing watchers.

This uncertainty also leaves you wondering whether or not your efforts are being appreciated by the social network.

TikTok was updated in 2020 to automatically block users from other users who view their profile. So, to access these old features, simply switch to a previous app version.

After 24 hours, the older option will notify you when someone views your profile—allowing for easier identification of stalkers or unfamiliar visitors. Just remember to disable "auto-update" when configuring the app's settings.

Furthermore, the clearest evidence that someone is stalking your profile is the number of notifications they are sending you.

For example, when a person likes your posts so many times that you're receiving constant notification alerts, it's safe to assume they're looking at your profile and probably reading through comment replies.

One more note: most features aren't available with a personal account. To fully enjoy the experience, you need to switch to either a Creator or Business account.

Once you do that, you can see who views your profile by using the analytics tool. However, you cannot see the specific details of each profile viewer.

While the Creator account has some features, it doesn't allow you to check if someone has viewed one of your videos.

How to enable a Creator/Business account on TikTok?

To switch your Personal account to a Professional one, open your profile and click on Settings. (If your account is set to Private, switch to Public before the next step.)

In your settings, select the Manage My Account option. There, you can switch to any of the two Professional accounts—Business or Creator.

In the same profile settings still, you will see an option called Analytics; enable it.

How to check the gender of your followers on TikTok?

After you reposition to Pro and turn on analytics, it’s then easy to find out the most influential gender among current followers.

This analytics tool will display viewers categorized by gender, country, and location. You’ll see your video views and followers as well.

How to view someone’s TikTok profile without them knowing?

When the app first launched, many tools were available for users. One of these was the TikTok profile viewer, which allows you to view other profiles without being detected.

If you want to view someone’s profile without alerting them (or view videos uploaded to the public feed without the owner knowing), you simply have to visit the app while logged out.

You can then search for hashtags or usernames. However, the steps below are only available on the app as the web version won’t facilitate you to search for users.

To view a TikTok profile anonymously, follow these steps:

  • On your TikTok profile, click on the three dots located in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
  • Scroll down and tap the Logout option.
  • Remember to memorize or write down your username and password so you can log back into your account when needed.
  • Go to the home page and tap the magnifying glass or the icon that says Discover, located at the bottom corner of the screen.
  • Fill in the username you’re looking for and use the search icon to explore.
  • After locating the desired account, you can view all the content without the user knowing. (Nonetheless, you’ll be unable to view an account set to Private.)

How to control who views your account?

If you're concerned about someone stalking your profile, securing it can prevent just this.

Here’s what to do:

  • The first option might not be the best, but it's perfect for casual TikTokers. Go to your settings and switch your account to private. Changing your profile to private means that if someone tries to view it, they must request to follow you before doing so.
  • When this is ineffective, you can decide to block any account you feel is stalking you. Do this by visiting the page and clicking the three dots, then clicking on the block icon when it pops up.

To change your account back from private mode, you need to open the Me icon on the lower right-hand corner of your device.

From here, click the three vertical dots in the upper-right hand corner, proceed to Privacy, and toggle your account status back to Public.

Good luck and cheers!
